About Kozhikode

Being a part of the most beautiful state in India, Kozhikode has been ranked the second best city in India to reside in. Also known as Calicut, this beautiful city boasts of beautiful beaches, parks, temples, churches, sanctuaries, hillocks, museums, wildlife, sculptures, rivers and lots more.

It is the prominent trade and commerce center in Kerala. Vasco Da Gama first set foot here in 1498 after which it became one of the most important ports in the Malabar region for the trade of spices, silk and other goods between European countries and India. The nature of land in Kozhikode is marshy.

Beypore

Beypore, an ancient port town in Kozhikode formerly called as Vaypura / Vadaparappanad. The famous ruler of Mysore , Tipu Sultan, named the town "Sultan Pattanam".

Beypore port was historically famous for trading with the Middle East. It is one of the oldest ports in Kerala. The place is also popular for building wooden ships, called as dhows in Malyalam, usually bought by Arab merchants for trading purposes but now used as tourist ships.

Thikkoti Light House

The lighthouse which overlooks Velliyamkallu off the Moodadi Coast in Kozhikode district, Kerala, was built after a shipwreck, the remains of which can still be seen here. The region around the Velliyamkallu Rock is the transit home of migratory birds.

Located on a rocky shoreline, the place is best known for the scenic views it offers as well as several species of nomadic birds.

Kozhippara Falls

Easily accessible by roads, Kozhippara Falls are situated on the borders of Kakkadampoyil on the Malappuram -Calicut District divide in Malappuram district.

Providing a stunning sight, these falls are best known for its swimming, bird watching and jungle trekking. Also known as Kakkadampoyil Waterfall, the Kozhippara waterfall is located on Kuthradampuzha river area.
